Blue Mistflower is a rhizomatous colonizing native perennial that may be best suited to naturalistic settings or among larger growing plants as a tall groundcover. Blue Mistflower is often listed as an excellent butterfly plant but we find mostly bees using it. Its spread can be controlled by digging up the invading portions and so is easily shared. Remove spent flower heads before seeds ripen if reseeding is a concern.
This beautiful native wildflower is commonly found in moist, organic rich soils along streams, ditches, and swamps throughout the Central and particularly the Eastern US.
